In haptic simulation devices, a 3D virtual training environment is combined with a tactile, sensation-based experience.In dental education, various simulators can serve as tools for familiarizing students with procedures and can help identify those who need additional support. Haptic simulators can provide extra practice for students who lack sufficient competence to begin the clinical training phase or who require additional practice during clinical patient training.Simulators can also offer training opportunities for procedures that students might not encounter during patient-based practice. Studies have shown a statistically significant improvement in dental students- motor skills following haptic training across multiple dental specialties, including restorative dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontology, implantology, and oral surgery.
