- Vantaa vocational college Varian Kone and the production technology education department will acquire a CNC lathe for teaching use during 2026. The machine must have a C-axis, Y-axis and rotating tools. These can be used to implement multi-purpose turning study units, according to including C-axis positioning, Y-axis milling operations, and milling and drilling operations performed with rotating tools. The machine will be installed in the fall of 2026 in the training space of Varian's Hiekkaharju location, where an industrial learning environment is used. The device must be suitable for both educational use and production use according to the requirements of the engineering industry. The CNC lathe to be purchased must meet the generally accepted safety, precision and quality requirements of the engineering industry, as well as machine safety standards (e.g. CE marking and safety equipment required by the machine directive). The device must enable the following educational and functional goals:- Teaching the basics of CNC turning, multi-function machining, and C- and Y-axis machining - milling and drilling operations performed with rotating tools - development of students' skills to meet modern industrial working life requirements - safe, stable and pedagogically suitable learning environment where the control system supports the learning of machining and the development of working life skills.
