• North Karelia's educational community association Riveria's investment plan for 2026 includes the purchase of a harvester for the training needs of Riveria's forestry sector. Technologically due to development and the technical differentiation of forest machines, a vocational educational institution offering forestry education must be able to provide guidance on the use of forest machines for all brands used in working life, and the education must equally equipment that is also available in working life. Until 2021, procurement of machinery in the forestry sector was tendered in Riveria through open tenders. This led to the one-sidedness of the equipment used in teaching, so that it was no longer able to produce a working life know-how corresponding to brand-specific specialization. Starting in 2021, the direct procurement procedure has been used for the procurement of Riveria's forestry training equipment, in which machinery and equipment are procured from different manufacturers on alternate years. Machine and equipment manufacturers have accepted the procedure. Direct purchase also ensures that we get a suitable and desired product for educational use, and that the purchase price and the machine's warranty period are more negotiable. A comprehensive report has been given on direct procurement in the forestry sector To the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, which has evaluated our procedure in 2023 and approved it.
