Finavia Oyj wants to offer Rovaniemi Airport passengers high-quality, reliable, safe and round-the-clock car rental services.
The goal of the procurement is to find for Rovaniemi Airport those who meet Finavia's requirements and are responsible for the practice of car rentalcontract partners for commercial apartments inside the terminal.
Finavia invested 25 million euros in the Rovaniemi Airport terminal in the years 2018-2020, when the surface area and continuous capacity of the terminal almost doubled. The changes in the terminal were fundamental to allle to the parties. New lockable spaces were built for car rental companies in the expansion section in the corridor between the exits.
Rovaniemi Airport's traffic is characterized by strong seasonal fluctuations. In the summer season, the traffic is less and is mainly directed to Helsinki, while in the winter season, the traffic on significantly more and the vast majority of traffic is international. Rovaniemi's passenger volume of 700,000 is the largest of the provincial airports and the growth is the strongest of Finavia's airports. There is a clear change in Rovaniemi's air traffic in the increase of direct scheduled flights around Europe and the Middle East inseparated from the previous situation, where international traffic consisted mainly of charter flights. Route flights are characterized by a longer season and more independent passengers who, for example, rent a car and tour the area more independently.
