• This announcement is not a procurement announcement or a request for quotation. With this request for information, HUS starts the market dialogue for the planned acquisition. The request for information does not obligate the procurement unit to carry out the actual procurement procedure. All in this request for information the information presented is preliminary and does not bind the purchasing unit in the implementation of the purchase or in the later stages of the project. Reporters are not compensated for responding to a request for information. The object of the planned acquisition is a stool capsule machine (medical device) development and manufacturing with the help of innovation partnership. Innovation partnership has been chosen as the procurement procedure, because there is no solution on the market that meets the procurement need. The goal of the acquisition is to renew and enhance the current one treatment process by utilizing new technology. A stool transplant performed in conjunction with a colonoscopy is relatively expensive and burdensome for the patient. If implemented with capsules, the treatment would be significantly easier for the patient and the healthcare system implement as implemented through observation. Fecal transplants are performed in Finland for approximately 100 patients each year. The most common indication for stool transplantation is diarrhea associated with antibiotic treatment, i.e. C. difficile infection. It would be possible to implement with capsules treatment for 1000-2000 patients with a recurrence of C. difficile infection.
