This announcement is related to the procurement procedures that Itarata Oy may later initiate for the acquisition of CONSULTING SERVICES FOR SOIL AND ROCK BASE STUDIES. Soil and bedrock surveys comprise two entities that must be purchased separately:
1) Base investigations of the Eastern Railway
2) Itaradan bedrock surveys and seismic soundings.
The aim of the research is to find out the key soil and bedrock properties for the rail project and to produce the basic information needed for geotechnical and rock engineering design in general and track plan stages.
Itarata Oy's task is to plan a rail connection enabling high-speed train traffic from Lentorada via Porvoo to Kouvola until the construction phase. The main goals of the project are to enable faster than current long-distance train service to eastern Finland: Savon and Karelia along the tracks to Kuopio, Joensuu and Kainuuse and connect the city of Porvoo to the rail transport network of the capital region. 2 million Finns in seven provinces live in the area affected by the Eastern Railway.
Itarata does planning together with several planning partners, municipalities and cities as well with other stakeholders. The planning aims for the construction of the track to begin in the early 2030s and for the track to be completed by 2040.
