- A council initiative has been submitted to the Akaa city council, which reads as follows: "Disability program in Akaas Accessibility is a matter of human dignity. It tells whether the city cares about all its residents, including those whose life movement, seeing, hearing, coping or understanding require support. In Akaa, accessibility is an integral part of the core of our reputation: a city that takes care of its weakest, at the same time takes care of the trust and future of its entire community (Imrie & Luck, 2014; WHO, 2011).Last In recent years, we have heard far too many stories about the fact that the rights of disabled people are not taken seriously enough here. The examples highlighted by the Council for the Disabled and the hearing association, as well as the messages I received from individual municipal residents, tell the story in his language: "It seems that in our city no one is interested in hearing and sight-impaired issues" (email from a disabled municipal citizen 11/19/2025). "When it comes to trust and equality, I don't trust decision-makers or office holders. All proposals fall because they want to use the money for something else" (email from a disabled municipal citizen 16.11.2025). Such indifference is harmful to our municipal brand, but above all it is a serious offense against humanity. We must act as a city better.
