With this market survey / prior information notice Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) surveys the market and requests information from suppliers concerning the procurement of a long cooling die (LCD) and a pumping system for a pilot size food extruder. Luke is planning the procurement of one long cooling die and one tailor-made pumping system within year 2024 to be used in Jokioinen, Finland, for the purposes of testing plant-based ingredients and producing of meat analogues. A long cooling die (LCD) is an enclosed cooling system (food-grade stainless steel) that is attached to an extruder equipment through a transfer bridge. The main purpose of this LCD would be to obtain plant-based meat analogues through high moisture extrusion. Generally, LCD uses water as an internal circulating medium with the help of an external cooling unit. Additional features are (i) an in-built pressure/temperature reading device, (ii) hose inlet for the injection of external ingredients at transfer-bridge point and (iii) a stainless-steel tray for sample collection. A pumping system (consisting of the vessel, pump and connecting pipe) for the injection of pressurized food liquid ingredients at transfer-bridge point needs to be implemented in parallel with the long cooling die.
