- The city of Äänekoski requests your offer for the supply of emission-free and largely renewable electrical energy from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. Option years are decided separately no later than 4 months before the start of each possible option period. Competition based on this, the electricity seller's margins and contract terms are agreed upon. The final billing price of electric energy is determined based on the price fixing for the contract period. The purchased electrical energy is 100% emission-free energy and at least 80% renewable energy. Renewable and emission-free energy includes wind power, solar energy and hydropower. Non-renewable, but emission-free energy is nuclear energy. Bioenergy is renewable energy. The city of Äänekoski's goal is to be carbon neutral by 2030 by (Äänekoski's strategy). The changes to the Energy Efficiency Act that entered into force at the beginning of 2026 broadly affect both companies and public sector operators. The changes emphasize the continuous improvement of energy efficiency, energy saving measures planning and monitoring and reporting of implemented actions. The city of Äänekoski has joined the Public Sector Energy Efficiency Agreement (JETS) for the period 2026-2035. Intentional energy use is a climate action that creates carbon neutrality from tomorrow.
