Niuvanniemi Hospital is a state mental hospital that produces nationwide specialized medical care and mental studies that require forensic psychiatric. The hospital is responsible for the workplace training and development activities of legal psychiatry in the field of forensic psychiatry. The hospital operates in Eastern FinlandA clinic of the University's forensic psychiatry, which is designed to take care of basic, postgraduate and continuing education in forensic psychiatry and health sciences. The hospital has 297 patient seats, 13 of which are in the minors' care unit. The hospital is located in Kuopio.
