Description:
The Finnish economic zone is an international marine area that the Finnish state is entitled to economic utilization. According to the Law on Maritime Winds in the Economic Zone (937/2024, the Maritime Winds Act), the Government may choose from from the economic zone for sea wind power use areas and make a decision to compete for them. The tendering of the regions is organized by the Energy Agency. According to the Maritime Winds Act, the Government may make a decision on the designation of the area in the Finnish economic zone for the use of wind energy, it Terms and conditions for tendering and exploiting the area. Such an area is called the sea breeze area of the economic zone. The production costs of the sea wind areas vary considerably depending on, among other things, the depth of the sea, the type of foundation and those needed for electricity transmission the cost of construction of cables and overhead lines. Information on the production costs of the preliminary sea wind of the economic zone will be used as a background to decide on the selection of the areas and the schedule of tendering.
