- THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT, NOR A REQUEST FOR OFFER, BUT A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. North Karelia procurement is preparing the procurement of mechanical and metal workforce training services for the North Karelia employment area. This is in accordance with Annex E of the national threshold value social and health service procurement. The North Karelia employment area will organize employment services in the province from the beginning of 2025. The employment area consists of 13 municipalities in North Karelia: Heinävesi, Ilomantsi, Joensuu, Juuka, Kitee, Kontiolahti, Lieksa, Liperi, Nurmes, Outokumpu, Polvijärvi, Rääkkylä and Tohmajärvi. The city of Joensuu is responsible for the employment area. Description of the object of acquisition Workforce education is adult education, the purpose of which is to develop and supplement jobseekers' professional skills skills and improve people's conditions for employment. Workforce training that promotes professional skills aims to satisfy companies' need for skilled labor. Labor training is intended for the unemployed and those at risk of unemployment for job seekers. The education to be acquired is not education with degree goals. The machinery and metal industry is a significant employer in North Karelia, especially in the export industry. Digitization and automation increase the skill requirements of employees in the field and e.g. sustainable development and the circular economy affect production processes. According to the technology industry's skills needs survey (11/2025), 140,000 new experts are needed in the Finnish technology industry in the next ten years...
