The purpose of the groundwater protection plan is to prevent the quality of groundwater quality and to safeguard the intake of groundwater without unnecessary restriction of land use in the area. The groundwater protection plan is a report and a guidance that takes into account, for example, land use planning and regulatory control. The content of the groundwater protection plan and its preparation is governed by the Act on the organization of water and marine management (1299/2004).
