- With the help of general traffic counting, you can get basic information about the amount of daily traffic and heavy traffic on roads, as well as hourly, day of the week and seasonal variations.
The road network managed by the Finnish Railways Agency is divided into approximately 14,600 homogeneous calculation intervals for the purpose of traffic calculation (the number does not includeon ramps). The general traffic calculation of the highway network is based on point-specific sample calculations performed at homogeneous intervals, on the basis of which Fintraffic Tie Oy produces traffic volume key figures with the help of traffic estimation models and transfers the data to the Velho system maintained by the Norwegian Railways Agencyto tell
Road traffic information production measurements 2024 2029 includes point-specific sample calculations performed in the terrain. The service covers the single-lane roads of the entire general road network in Finland. Annually, calculations are made in a total of about 3,000 locations, and basically the measurement is made for a calendar yearonly once in the same destination. The duration of one calculation is about a week.

Type-approved calculation devices must be used as the calculation device for traffic measurements of the basic environment on roadsand standardized installation method as well as quantitative data processing. The minimum requirement of the tender is that the supplier must prepare the type approval documents for the computing technology related to the basic environment in accordance with the tender request.
