• Sodankylä is the second largest municipality in Finland, with 29 villages and the distances are long. There is a need in the municipality to develop public passenger transport services, and they must respond better and better to different service needs. In particular, there is a need to promote better accessibility of public transport services, develop the formation of travel chains and utilize digitization as part of the localization and visibility of transport services. The goal is to develop public transport as a whole to meet the needs of users taking into account. The plan begins with an analysis of the current state, which is based on a survey and workshops organized in different parts of the municipality, which include, for example, residents, entrepreneurs and other various actors. The analysis should also take into account those that cross municipal borders traffic connections and volumes. Based on these results, a comprehensive development plan for public transport and sustainable travel chains will be drawn up. The plan must also state the desired service level of public transport, the method of implementation and the routes in geospatial data format and in a form that is easily and visually accessible to the customer. The plan aims at cost efficiency, i.e. the possibilities for combining transports are explored, for example, whether it would be possible to use the same car during the day also for the municipality's other transport needs.
