- Description:
- The object of the procurement is the rock tunnel of Helen Sähköverkko Oy (Client) for the electric cable route from Helsinki's Sörnäis to Old Town. A 400 kilovolt cable connection is planned to be placed in the rock tunnel. The 400 kV cable connection will be built as a separate contract after the excavation and construction of this rock tunnel. The planned length of the rock tunnel is about 4.2 km. The cross-sectional area of the rock tunnel is about 25 m2 and it mainly runs at a depth of 20...-53 above sea level. There are others in the vicinity of Kalliotunnel underground facilities, for example the tunnels of HSY (Helsinki region's environmental services municipal corporation). Vertical shafts will be built at the northern and southern ends of the rock tunnel, from which the cable connection will rise to the ground. The vertical shaft is located in Old Town to the area of the rock that is well on the surface. At the end of Sörnäinen, the vertical shaft is located in the Hanasaari energy quarter area. According to preliminary data, the soil layer on top of the rock is about 20 meters thick and consists of seabed filled in the 1950s. There are also contaminated soil materials (PIMA) in the area of the Hanasaari energy block. The excavation of the rock tunnel takes place through two existing driving tunnels. Five pumping stations are tentatively planned for the rock tunnel, some of which will possibly be to be carried out with borehole technology that can be serviced from the ground.
