• The magnetic resonance imaging simulator for radiation therapy has been acquired for the unit in 2020 and will be in the middle of its life cycle in 2026. The MK simulator is used in radiotherapy especially for e.g. curative treatment of brain tumors, prostate cancer and gynecological cancers in planning. In these disease groups, the MRI simulator also replaces the computed tomography (CT) scan normally used in treatment planning, as the treatment plan can be made directly on the MRI images taken in the treatment position. The device is also used e.g. for cardiac imaging in radiology. A significant software update is available for the MK simulator, which improves image quality and speeds up imaging and image analyses. Sequences and reconstructions based on artificial intelligence speed up the shooting considerably, so sequence-wise, it is possible to reach even half of the previous one. In addition, the amount of noise in the images is reduced and the accuracy of the images is improved. In the new version, heart imaging changes to a more automatic direction, which makes the image quality even and makes it easier to view the images research use. The update also modernizes the operating system into a two-screen system, making it easier to manage the whole.
