- Turku Tramway Ltd. is preparing to procure trams for the tram line between Turku harbor and Varissuo. Commercial passenger traffic is estimated to begin in the early 2030s. The rolling stock procurement aims to find the most economically advantageous solution for Turku-s tramway. The weighting of price and quality, as well as the quality criteria for the procurement, will be specified during the procurement process. The procurement emphasizes the cost-effectiveness of the tram rolling stock over its lifecycle, passenger experience, suitability for the City of Turku-s objectives, maintainability, and high utilization rate. Due to the small scale of Turku-s tramway, it is important to be able to manage risks related to the availability of rolling stock throughout the planned lifecycle. The tramway project comprises a 12 km long tram line, a track connection to the depot, and power supply stations. Turku Tramway Ltd. invites rolling stock suppliers to participate in a market dialogue during March-April 2026. During the market dialogue, Turku Tramway Ltd. will request suppliers- comments on the preliminary technical and functional specifications of the trams, as well as on the description of maintenance services. This notice is an invitation to a market dialogue and does not bind either the Client or the participant.
