- Description:
- The project prepares estimates of the development costs of Finland's greenhouse gas emissions and energy balance with current energy and climate policy measures, i.e. the so-called base scenario, until 2060. Using scenario modeling, the project analyzes whether Finland is on the path towards them national and international climate and energy goals and obligations that have been set for Finland scenario results and assessments of the achievement of energy and climate goals can be used for the next government term energy and as a starting point for climate policy planning and as background material for drawing up the government program. The project's modeling is done with an integrated energy system model that covers all energy sectors and the greenhouse gas emissions of the Kyoto Protocol and their reduction technologies, e.g. with the TIMES model. Existing, up-to-date sector-specific scenarios should be used in the project as a starting point for modeling. The project requires coordination between the land use sector and agriculture, which will be implemented during 2026 with scenario modeling.
